“There is some amount of frustration in Islamabad, which they haven’t been able to achieve. We have contacts with the Pakistani military. I think they are really concerned over India’s conventional military modernisation,” said Ben Barry, a senior expert.

Ever since the 1947 partition, India and Pakistan have been involved in four wars, yearly dated on 1947, 1965, 1971, 1999.

In 1947, Indo-Pak fought the First Kashmir War. India was a clear winner, after gaining control of about two-third of the state. The 1965 war was considered a military stalemate.

The 1971 war was unique because it did not involve Kashmir. It was rather a result of crisis, brewing in erstwhile East Pakistan between Sheikh Mujibar Rahman, Leader of East Pakistan, and Yahya Khan and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, leaders of West Pakistan. It was consequently a defeat for Pakistan and a partial victory for India.

The 1999 Kargil war was a short conflict which began in May of 1999 when Pakistani soldiers infiltrated Kashmir. In conclusion, India won the battle.
